R-8
The Roland R-8 was an advanced drum computer. It appeared in 1988 and was marketed as a 'human rhythm composer'.
R-8 Manager is a powerful editor for the R-8.
Features:
- Only supports the original R-8, not the later R-8M or R-8 MK II. (For starters, the R-8M and R-8 MK II use different Model IDs in their System Exclusive formats, so they would simply ignore any System Exclusive messages sent by R-8 Manager.)
- Full control over the R-8's setup, patterns and songs.
- Supports all eleven Roland SN-R8-nn ROM cards.
R-8 Manager 1.6.1 for Windows - Installer
Main new features of this version:
- The update check mechanism works again on Windows 7, Windows 8 and older (i.e. pre-TLS 1.3) Windows 10.
- The application has become more user-friendly concerning data errors in ".stp" and ".mru" configuration files: On startup, when the application encounters a data error in a configuration file, the application now mentions the exact name of the offending file, and no longer refuses to start. Hence it is no longer necessary to delete corrupt configuration files manually. On exit, the application reports any errors while saving configuration files.
See section 2 of the manual for the full list of changes.
