Hi,
I'd love to make use of the JX-10 overlay for the BCR2000 I found on your site and asked a printing party to print it out laminated. They asked me to supply a PDF, but when saving the TIF as PDF, it's apparently not the right size.
I'm a total DTP noob. In fact, I wouldn't mind paying to get a perfect sized and laminated JX-10 overlay, like the one I ordered for my Pulse 2, here: https://www.mxpand.com/controller-overlays/waldorf-pulse-2/
Thanks ahead!
Rob
I assume you're talking…
I assume you're talking about the 2 tif files in "Vec4 SupJX BCR2K Prog Files.zip".
Judging from the filestamps in this file, it was uploaded in 2016. Unfortunately the upload system used by my website is very primitive: it doesn't register the uploader, so I can't easily figure out who uploaded this zip file.
As to the "wrong print size" problem:
I don't know which program you used to convert these tif files to pdf, but here's what I've just tried:
I opened the 2 tif files in IrfanView:
Image -> Information told me that the "print size (from DPI)" of these files was "15.1 x 24.4 cm" and "14.1 x 24.4 cm".
Then I used IrfanView's File -> "Save as" operation to save to pdf. For "Page format" I retained the default "Like image", and I changed "Compression" to "Uncompressed".
Then I opened these pdf files in SumatraPDF. File -> Properties told me that the "Page Size" of these files was "15.06 x 24.41 cm" and "14.15 x 24.41 cm". So it seems that basically these page sizes should be correct, unless the printing party you contacted has more specific demands.
Hope this helps,
Mark.
Thanks Mark, I succeeded…
Thanks Mark,
I succeeded test printing a 24.41 cm broad image as pdf, but turns out this is just a bit to broad; the wholes for the knobs don't aligne exactly. I can try a couple of ratio's (maybe .98, maybe .97?) but why aren't the TIFF's created for the actual size of the BCR2000? Seems odd...
why aren't the TIFF's…
Indeed: one would expect that the creator of these TIFF files made sure that they are scaled correctly.
To see whether their dimensions correspond with any standard page formats (many of which are of course based on inches), I've taken a quick look at the list of page formats offered by my word-processor: none of these dimensions correspond.
So why do these TIFF files have these non-standard sizes if they don't fit anyway?
As you said, all you can do is experiment with the scaling.
