Hi all,
I am using the BC Manager on Linux via Wine. All seems to work well- but perhaps not?
To make it harder even, I am also a BCR beginner...
I would like to have a setup for the 4 buttons, so that they can move the Transport of Reaper: play/stop, pause, previous marker and next marker.
The end goal is to have these 4 buttons for that purpose for all Presets.
Possibly a beginners question:
in the window BCR2000 Presets i want to send Preset #1 over to the BCR.
However, i get an error: error 22
What does this mean
and more importantly- how to solve this?
B-Control error 22 is…
B-Control error 22 is described in section 21.2.23 of "BC MIDI Implementation.pdf":
Since you are using BC Manager's Presets window to send your preset, there can't be an error in the sequence of indexed BCL statements (embedded in MIDI System Exclusive messages) that BC Manager is sending.
So the error must be caused by your MIDI cable and/or BCR setup.
For instance, there could be a feedback loop that causes a BCL statement to be received twice by your BCR; obviously the BCR then reports that the index of the second instance is wrong.
So you should make sure that your BCR is in an appropriate operating mode (U/S-1/2/3/4) and that there are no physical or virtual MIDI cables causing a feedback loop.
(I hardly know Wine, so I can't say whether it might be involved in this error.)
Hope this helps,
Mark.

Thanks, Mark, for your fast reply. I found BC MIDI Implementation.pdf and mention of that error.
My level of knowledge on the BCR is that i was happy to be able to use the LEARN function for the first time: and i think i was able to store the settings for the 4 buttons for play and pause the Transport of Reaper. I pushed the STORE button from time to time and hope the settings are still there in the morning.... : )
I use the USB connection only. Is it better to use the MIDI cables for IN and OUT? And disconnect the MIDI OUT cable from BC Manager so a feedback loop is avoided?

Personally I'm always uncomfortable with Learn features of devices and applications: I tend to get to a point very quickly where I want (or even need) to know what Learn is doing under the hood, to program things myself.
But as long as Learn works for you, why not.
Particularly if you're starting with programming the BCR from BC Manager, operating mode U-1 is ideal: BC Manager and the BCR can communicate bidirectionally, and there is little to no chance of undesired loops.
