Hi to everybody.
My name is Simone (Simon) and I own a GS-10, purchased as new last year.
I discovered this site searching for an editor of GS-10 other than the one provided with the device.
Many compliments to the programmer, the GS-10 editor here is very nice and useful.
If there is someone that can help me, I would like to know two related things:
- when I switch from a patch to another, or from a channel to another channel inside the same patch, there is
a little lag; not too much, but noticeable. Since I owned the cousin of GS-10, Roland GP-100, I expected no lag
changing patches. Is it a thing of GS-10 in general, or it's my GS-10?
- Is there a way to switch on/off single effects inside the same patch - using the GS-10 as a stompbox - using a midi pedalboard (such Proel MS32 I own, or Behringer FCB1010)? This way there is no lag turning on/off a single effect.
Thanks a lot.

Since the GS-10 is basically a totally digital device, I can't imagine that the problem lies with your individual GS-10.
I've just had a quick browse through the manual of the GP-100: the capabilities of the GP-100 indeed seem very similar to those of the GS-10.
So if there is indeed a difference in lag in certain comparable situations, this may be related to the fact that the GP-100 stems from 1995, the GS-10 from 2003: perhaps the GS-10 internally does more complicated things than the GP-100, and perhaps these things take slightly longer to set up and thus cause a lag. In particular, from about 1998 to 2008 there was a lot of development in the amp and speaker simulation modules in the BOSS GT-series (GT-3, GT-6, GT-8, GT-10 etc.) and indeed the GS-10. (If you want to get an idea of how sophisticated the amp and speaker simulations of the GS-10 are, take a look at my document about the GS-10's Preamp/Speaker effect, available from https://mountainutilities.eu/gs-10.)
Yes.
GS-10 Manager even includes support for the FCB1010. See section 12 of the GS-10 Manager manual for discussion.
Hope this helps,
Mark.
