Hi, my R8 is slightly broken in that the pads/buttons don't all work. but the device can still work as a sound module.. tried using R8 manager to assign note number, volume levels, multi outputs and then send that data to the R8 machine to reconfigure it.
This doesnt seem to do anything. I can get data from it no problem, but sending data to it changes absolutely nothing. is there some memory protection mode that im not aware of on the R8 device?
I have a windows 10 pc, with a Behringer UMC404HD (this has midi in/out connections) and the R8 is connected to those
whenever i try to send data from R8 manager, it says its sent but nothing changes. what am i missing here?
the midi out from the audio interface connects to the midi in on the drum machine, the midi in on the audio interface is connected to the midi out on the drums.
my sequencers can play the drum machine no problem (for the sounds that have note numbers assigned), all im trying to use R8 manager for is assigning note numbers and physical outputs on the back and then sending that data to the device. anyone able to help? Ive tried using midi-ox to see if i can debug this issue myself but am getting nowhere.
thanks.
Are the settings in R-8 Manager's "R-8 options" dialog box correct? (This dialog box can be opened from the Options pulldown menu of the "R-8" window. See section 7 in the R-8 Manager Manual.)
In the "R-8 options" dialog box, the MIDI input and output ports must be set to the MIDI I/O device connected to the R-8. (And of course the same ports must have been enabled in the "MIDI devices" dialog box.)
Furthermore, "Basic channel" in the "R-8 options" dialog box must match the Receive Channel of the Instrument Section of the R-8.
Hope this helps,
Mark.
