Hi everyone...
So, since a little time, my FCB1010 act very and randomly weird !!
I mainly used it to control BIAS FX on PC
I used the FCB1010 manager to monitor and try to find a solution... but whatever I do, the FCB continue to send $FF "System Real Time" messages instead of the right PC/Notes I programed...
- I was succefully dumped [only] one time the all programs via SysEx send [pedalboard side]...
- I re-pushed several time the FCB via SysEx Receive [pedalboard side]
- I checked-up on the pedalboard if my config was correctly pused and it was (even with some modifications I made in the process)
... but I cannot make it send anything else than those annoying $FF "System Real Time" messages... EXCEPT that some times, the whole thing randomly works again, then stop working again T____T
So, my question : what did I missed !! Why does it work again when I sometime switch it on several times.... then stop working the day after ?? (and what is those "System Real Time"messages exactly ??)
Thanx !! [and thanx for had done this manager...]
[note: I wanted to join a screenshot of the FCB Manager input message window but I do not see anything in the forum to do that...]
I used the FCB1010 manager to
"System Real-Time" messages are a group of eight one-byte messages:
F8 = Timing Clock
(F9 = undefined)
FA = Start
FB = Continue
FC = Stop
(FD = undefined)
FE = Active Sensing
FF = System Reset
As the discussions of the MIDI -> Receive and MIDI -> Send operations in section 6 of the FCB1010 Manager Manual explain, F8 or FE often prevent you from receiving/sending an FCB setup from/to the FCB:
However, FF is very unusual, both in this context and in general.
In fact, the erratic behavior that you describe suggests that these FF aren't "consciously" being generated (i.e. as System Reset messages) by a device, but are the result of a hardware fault, which can be in a MIDI cable, your MIDI-to-USB device, or your FCB itself.
So if you can, try using a different cable and a different MIDI-to-USB device, and see if those FF messages persist.
But when exactly do you see these FF messages and where are they coming from?
Are they being sent more or less continuously? (If so, does it matter whether you have a two-way connection to the FCB?)
Or do they only occur when you're trying to receive/send the FCB's setup?
Oor only when you press a pedal on the FCB?
Receiving or sending an FCB setup is very tricky anyway, so you should follow BC Manager's instructions exactly.
And have you read the discussions of the MIDI -> Receive and Send operations in the BC Manager manual?
You can't upload screenshots to the Mountain Utilities website, because the website is on a low-budget webhost with little storage room.
What you can do is include links to externally hosted images.
Hope this helps,
Mark.
