Hi everybody, I'm new on this forum and my question is: can someone explain me step by step how to display info on Virtual bar "mackie monitor".
My operating system is Big Sur IOS , DAW software Cubase 10.5, and BCF2000. BCFView not working on mac so I found BC Manager with option to display but I don't know how configure everything. Now I have only blank display.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Starting with normal control surface setup (without Mackie monitor) it goes:
Control surface MIDI out > Cubase control surface MIDI input
and
Cubase control surface MIDI output > control surface MIDI input (so Cubase can send feedback to the control surface e.g. when you move faders in Cubase).
Now with the Mackie monitor: you have to virtually (meaning using virtual MIDI ports) connect it like this:
Control surface MIDI out > Cubase control surface MIDI input (this stays the same as above)
and
Cubase control surface MIDI output > (virtual MIDI port) > Mackie monitor MIDI input
Mackie monitor MIDI output > (virual MIDI port) > control surface MIDI input
I'm on Windows and I use loopMIDI (https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html) for it.
I don't know what's available on Mac for that purpose.
I'm maybe not that good explaining it in words, so I hope it's understandable, otherwise ask back (or maybe someone else will chime in). :)
Good luck.
Thank you for answer.
Thank you for answer.
It's very useful.
Right now I connect Cubase mackie controll MIDI out to Virtual MIDI cable ( IAC ) and this Virtual MIDI cable to Mackie monitor MIDI in.
Control surface (BCF2000) is connected to Cubase mackie control MIDI input.
BCF2000 can control Cubase, Mackie monitor diplaying data correctly ( they are very useful) but right now I can't control BCF2000 from Cubase because output data from Cubase going to virtual MIDI cable and next to display.
Right now I need to know how to realize this:
"Mackie monitor (MIDI output > (virual MIDI port) > control surface (BCF2000) MIDI input"
I'm using BCmamager 4.1.2 but I can't see any option to setup Mackie monitor MIDI output.
Maybe I'm using wrong software, maybe is another solution than BC Manager. If anyone can help please let me know.
You set the MIDI inputs
You set the MIDI inputs/outputs directly in the Mackie Monitor window (not BC Manager main window).
And there's an option there to pass through MIDI input to output which you need enabled.
(Can't amke a screenshot right now but if you're still stuck I'll make one later).

I can't see any option to setup MIDI out or thru in Mackie monitor, just MIDI in
Ah yes, I remembered wrongly,
Ah yes, I remembered wrongly, sorry.
The 'pass through' is in the Options of the main window.
I use the Mackie monitor together with Reaper and a BCR2000 (acting as Mackie control surface).

Thank you for your help and your time. I think that creeate virtual MIDI in mac with thru option is not possible thats why Behringer offer BCFview only for windows.
Oh I wasn't aware of that.
Oh I wasn't aware of that.
Maybe a question for @Mark van den Berg (maker of BC Manager) if that MIDI through option is not possible in the Mac version or maybe it could be added?
First of all: sorry for my
First of all: sorry for my extremely late reply: I've been very busy during the last few months, and this topic kept slipping by...
The answer to this question is buried in the version history of the BC Manager manual:
Further explanation:
The MIDI Thru facility offered by the Windows editions of all my MIDI applications doesn't actually "implement" MIDI Thru. "My" MIDI Thru facility simply uses the MIDI Thru facility offered by the MIDI system of Windows itself. Basically my application only asks Windows to connect MIDI input device X to MIDI output device Y, and all MIDI traffic between these devices is then handled by Windows itself, without any involvement from my application.
macOS simply doesn't offer the same MIDI Thru system, which is why the macOS editions of my applications don't have this MIDI Thru facility.
And I've never felt the need to develop an independent MIDI Thru facility for macOS, because (IIRC) you can set up MIDI Thru connections in macOS itself, namely via Applications -> Utilities -> "Audio MIDI Setup.app".
Hope this helps,
Mark.
