Hi everybody,
My name is Javier. I work in a small studio that I own in northern Spain. I have been involved in music for about 25 years now, and for the last 10 or so I have slowly turned this into (a good part of) my main income. I mostly produce, record and mix audio for others, ranging from electronic to folk, americana and synth-pop. I have a number of synths here in the studio (JX3P, Matrix 6R, Roland D-550, old Yamahas, MFB Dominion, MS-20 and others), and happy to see that there is this huge community to which – hopefully – I can contribute to.
I have a question about the BCR 2000 and its ability to control parameters on an Oberheim Matrix 6R, but after searching around the forum I have not found anything.
Should I post it here, please tell me and I’ll go ahead. It is related specifically to this BCR template (https://github.com/christofmuc/bcr2000_for_oberheim_matrix1000) but it might be useful for other owners of Matrixes 1000 or 6/6R, I guess.
Thanks a lot,
Javier
Hi Javier,
Hi Javier,
Yes, you can post your question about the BCR + the Matrix here.
Just keep in mind that most people in this forum know a lot about the BCR but little or nothing about the Matrix. So you will have to explain the Matrix side of the question in greater depth than you would have to in a forum about the Matrix.
Mark.
Hello everybody - and thanks
Hello everybody - and thanks Mark.
Eventually I discovered what was going on (MIDI monitor helped me out). It had nothing to do with the BCR2000 but it might help other Matrix 6/6R users willing to use Matrix 1000 templates with their BCR's so here it is: for some reason, you must put your Matrix 6/6R in "Patches - Patch Edit - Quick" mode if you want it to respond to these BCR messages. The device ID is the same (Matrix 1000 vs 6/6R) and Kris at GitHub did a fantastic job at programming such vast amount of control into the BCR (check his work here: https://github.com/christofmuc/bcr2000_for_oberheim_matrix1000). All the messages were fine in MIDI monitor and I was going mad : ) The key was to enter that mode, otherwise nothing happens. I found the hint when looking at some old M1000X documentation.
Thanks a lot,
Javier
