Updated BC Manager to 4.1.1, Mackie Monitors Legend missing

Hi,

I just updated BC Manager to 4.1.1 (current) from I think 4.0.something (don't remember exactly unfortunately), and now the Legend (numbers 1 to 8 at the bottom) are missing.

Screenshot:

With old version it looked like this (old screenshot I still had):

I'm on Win 8.1, can somebody confirm (or not), or am I missing something?

Thanks.

I'm new to this forum, how can I edit my post?

You can't.
This is to prevent people from changing/deleting their posts irresponsibly and thereby making past conversations incomprehensible.
So if something like this happens, the best thing you can do is contact me via the Contact form, so that I can correct the situation for you.

Sorry, messed up the links to the pics

I've removed the invalid links from your original post.

My initial tests indicate that the problem was introduced in BC Manager 4.1.0; 4.0.2 was still good. (Of course the problem also affects the latest MIDI Tools.)
I don't have Windows 8.1, but for me the problem occurs in Windows 10, and in Windows 7 with an Aero theme.
However, the problem does not occur in Windows 7 with the Windows Classic theme. Since this is where I still do my main development, this explains why I haven't noticed this problem before.
So clearly something silly has gone wrong, but I don't know what yet.
Since the time span between BC Manager 4.0.2 and 4.1.0 is more than 2 years, I have a lot of commits to trawl through, so it may take a few days to figure out the cause and hopefully fix it. Stay tuned...

Thanks a lot for looking into it. :)

Yes, I *think* that I used 4.0.2 before updating, but can't say totally sure as mentioned above.

It turned out that the legend itself (the text) was displayed correctly, but that the legend's background color was incorrect:
BC Manager 4.1.0 introduced application "skins", which caused the existing method of painting the background to be ignored in most cases.
Consequently both the background and the text of the legend ended up in the same color.
So pedantically speaking, your complaint that the legend was missing was incorrect: the legend was just "somewhat" hard to read smiley

Anyway, I think I've fixed this now:

Installer: [Obsolete link removed]
32-bit Portable: [Obsolete link removed]
64-bit Portable: [Obsolete link removed]

In this version, the legend should display correctly in all Windows display themes and application skins.

This version should also correct a few other bugs introduced in BC Manager 4.1.0:

  • A Mackie monitor window now shrinks vertically again to exclude a disabled legend altogether.
  • The Mackie monitor windows support Windows 10's "Per Monitor v2" DPI awareness protocol.

I've tested this version in Windows 7 and 10.
I don't have Windows 8.1, but it should work there as well.

Please let me know whether the Mackie monitor windows now work correctly for you.
If so, I'll publish the corresponding Release versions of BC Manager and MIDI Tools (including updated manuals) in a week or so.

Hi,

sorry for the delay. (For future, is there an option on this forum to 'subscribe' to threads/get notified via email about new replies?)

I can confirm the legend is back with the version you posted above.

Thank you.

Thanks for reporting back!
I'll publish the corresponding release versions of BC Manager and MIDI Tools in the near future (hopefully by the end of the week).

For future, is there an option on this forum to 'subscribe' to threads/get notified via email about new replies?

You can subscribe to each particular forum at this website: click "My account" at the top of the webpage, click the Subscriptions tab, click the Categories tab, enable the forums you're interested in, and click the Save button at the bottom.

In the early days of this website (2014), this website used a Drupal module that allowed users to subscribe to individual topics.
But of course this system could only notify people about comments to existing topics, not about new topics.
So once I had discovered a module that allowed users to subscribe to whole forums, I switched to that:
The frequency of posts at this website has always been rather low crying, and having both systems would be confusing.
The idea is that a user interested in only a particular topic can simply subscribe to the forum for as long as the topic is "hot", and unsubscribe once notifications about unrelated topics start getting annoying.

Thanks, just subscribed to this subforum. :)

The Release versions of the Windows editions of BC Manager 4.1.2 and MIDI Tools 2.2.2 can now be downloaded from the respective download pages.
(Corresponding macOS editions have also been released, but fix unrelated bugs.)
