In order to alert you when an update is available, on startup FCB1010 Manager tries to download a small file located at mountainutilities.eu containing the latest FCB1010 Manager version number.
But for some reason this attempt fails on your system. Most likely your firewall blocks FCB1010 Manager.
There are two solutions to this problem:
Disable "Automatic check on program startup" in FCB1010 Manager's "Check for update" dialog box, accessible from the main window's Help pull-down menu.
Create a special firewall rule giving FCB1010 Manager outbound internet access.
I think automatic check on start up is the resaon, the thing is that I installed the manager in three computers with the same results, first time the app opens right and there was a window about automatic check, I clicked it in the three and then I couldn't start a second time. The problem is that I deisntalled the app with Clean my Mac, but It happens the same when I open the app it cames a window saying that is no possible to connect with mountain utilities and when a accept the app closes, no way to go to the main menu.
I guess there's any file that keeps the automatic check on, maybe a preference or something, Clean my mac doesn't delete it and I can't delete it to make a clean installation.
Also when I see the window of: failed to connect to mountanutilities, I can't acces to the help menu, I can see it but is grey not black so the acces is denied.
The firewall is disabled and also filevault.
Any of you have the automatic check for update on?
I'm using Mavericks as my main Macos System, and there was the problem, but I have also the Captain system in other HD, I installed the manager there and first time it open I checked to not make automatic check in start up, and now it works, so the problem is this, the problem now is that the installation of the manager must have any file or carpet that Clean my Mac doesn't delete, so when I unistall, something keeps there and makes imposible to make a real clean installation.
Does anyone know what are ALL the files and where of the manager, to really delete it and make an installation from cero?
In my main setup I work with Macos 10.9.5 Mavericks
Thanks Mark, it worked. I was afraid of the show hide files, cause in another computer I couldn't never hide then again but this time it worked perfect and now the manager is here everytime, Don't know why the automatica update don't work, because is very usual in other applications.
I can now try to see if I can work with my FCB100 together with My Yamaha FX770.
It turned out that the webhost of the Mountain Utilities site has recently disabled secure (HTTPS) communication via TLS 1.0, thus requiring TLS 1.1 or 1.2.
This caused the update checkers of the macOS editions of my applications to stop working, because these update checkers relied on OpenSSL, which on macOS only comes in an old version only supporting TLS 1.0. And Apple has gone as far as deprecating OpenSSL, making it hard or even impossible to upgrade OpenSSL.
Therefore I've now released new versions of all the macOS editions of my applications which no longer rely on OpenSSL, but use the TLS capabilities of the operating system itself.
Thus, on OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) and later (which support TLS 1.1 and 1.2) the update checker should work again: if you had disabled "Automatic check on program startup" in the "Check for update" dialog box, you can re-enable it, and pressing the "Check now" button works again too.
On OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and earlier (which lack TLS 1.1/1.2 support) the update checker still doesn't work, so it's best to switch "Automatic check on program startup" off, although leaving it on will no longer prevent the application from starting up.
Upon investigation I found that the "list index (7) out of bounds" error indeed occurred in the update checking routine, but that it had nothing to do with the original error reported here (which was due to a TLS problem and affected only the macOS editions of my applications).
The "list index (7) out of bounds" error was caused by a recent bug in my source code.
This bug affected all editions (macOS and Windows) of all "Release Candidate 1" versions (2020-07-03) of A-880 Manager, BC Manager, FCB1010 Manager and MIDI Tools.
I've now made Release Candidate 2 versions available, in which this bug is fixed.
So thanks very much for reporting this error!
At least I'm glad it occurred in a Release Candidate version instead of a Release version
Try to install it again, it might help

Comment #2 in this topic explains where FCB1010 Manager's configuration files are.
Hope this helps,

After a user in the B-Control forum reported the same problem for BC Manager, I finally decided to investigate:

I'm still getting this error message when I try to open FCB1010

Which version of FCB1010 Manager are you using?
And which operating system are you running?
