Physically connecting A880 hardware to the utility software.

Hi

Apologies for what is probably a very stupid question...

I've just bought an A-880 and downloaded the A880 utility for Win7(64).

I wanted an A880 because it is a standalone product and not dependent on USB to function... can you please tell me how I connect the A880 (hardware) to your utility (software) on the PC? ... I assume that I use a USB to MIDI cable or converter (such as a Midisport 2x2)... in other words, USB out of the computer and then into a spare midi IN port on the A880?

USB --> Midisport --> (midi out) --> A880

Is this correct? ... the manual doesn't actually describe a way to connect hardware and software together.

Thanks very much and apologies once again 8-)

Yes, you'll need a USB-to-MIDI device.
In fact, for the "Receive" operation (described on p. 20 of the manual) you'll need a bidirectional connection.
And you shouldn't just connect to "a spare MIDI IN port on the A-880": (as also described on p. 20) this should be the A-880's "Control Input". Alternatively you can redefine the Control Input of the A-880, of course.

Hope this helps,
